When I feel paralyzed by the news, the first thing I try to move towards is my art. I wanted in some small way to honor the stories of courage and audacity of the Ukrainian people that we have all seen on display. They deserve the freedom and peace that they are bravely fighting for.

Sunflower seeds for the woman who defiantly told Russian soldiers “You should put sunflower seeds in your pockets so that they will grow on Ukrainian land after you die."

The colors of the Ukrainian flag symbolizing golden fields of grain (bread, provision) under blue skies (freedom). The flag’s symbolism is my deepest prayer for the Ukrainian people today. Freedom and provision.
